Local authorities offer grants to people with disabilities who want to make home improvements in order to help them move around their home more easily. This can include things like:
The residents of housing associations, private tenants and home owners may apply to the local council for a disability grant if they are disabled or anyone with whom they reside with is. Property owners with disabled tenants can also apply.
You could be eligible if you are registered disabled or eligible to register as disabled, have a low income, and savings of less than £6000. On request, our knowledgeable team members will provide you with additional information.
Your local council should arrange for an Occupational Therapist to meet you at home before you make a decision.
If your application is accepted, please contact us and we will set up a meeting at your home to discuss your bathroom renovation options.
It is determined by the local council to which you apply and how long it takes them to process your application. On average, it takes 12 to 14 weeks, but more complicated installations can take longer.
Did you know that we can deduct the VAT on our products and installations if you are disabled or over 60 and require a bathroom adaptation to help you live more comfortably? If this applies to you, talk to the surveyor during the home visit and they will happily advise.
If you are approved and receive provisional approval for a DFG grant, we will assist you with questions about planning permission and designs.
